Who We Are
Ida Persson is the Creative Director at actREAL. Ida is a theatre practitioner and devises and executes actREAL workshops and rehearsals as well as developing the practical material based on academic research. Ida holds a law degree and an MA in Film & Television Studies from Warwick University as well as an MA in International Law and Human Rights from the University for Peace, Costa Rica.
Vanessa Hughes is the Research Director at actREAL. Vanessa has over five years’ experience working in research at Oxford University, Goldsmiths College (University of London), the Council of Europe and the Migrants’ Rights Network. Her role at actREAL is to engage new partners and develop new projects. Vanessa holds a BA in Philosophy and Politics from the University of Durham, an MA Migration Studies from the University of Sussex , an MRes Sociology from Goldsmiths, University of London and is currently completing her PhD. She has several publications including Narrating Home (Lambert Academic Publishing), No Way Out, No Way In (Research Paper, COMPAS) and Citizenship and Its Others (co-authored) (Palgrave Macmillan).
